I’m back!

Hello everyone.
Long time no blog.
I want to thank everyone for the encouraging comments left on my last post when I left for a hiatus. It really made me feel inspired and appreciated!

As for this blog, I will continue posting art and ramblings on here and I hope you continue to follow. It will no longer be a daily challenge but just a place for me to archive my work.

I have done a couple of drawings on my break and I felt much better doing them since I wasn’t feeling pressured.

So without further ado, here they are:

Thoughts

So it seems that I have gone a few days without posting. I did create something on Friday, but on Saturday and Sunday I was very busy and exhausted. This challenge has become incredibly difficult for me and doing something every single day is no longer realistic. You can call me a quitter but please keep your criticisms to yourself, please.

I am not quitting however, but I do need to take a short hiatus from this. I think the every day pressure is doing more harm than good in terms of my creativity. I feel like a squeezed sponge with no more water left to give.
I need to think and work on some new guidelines for myself so I can get back on track. Either make something every weekend, or make something every other day or couple of days.

Another thought, I need to try and pimp out my blog more when I come back. The lack of comments, feedback and encouragement has really hampered me as well. I am not saying that I need reinforcement to be creative but it does help in wanting to show what I have done. I am not sure if this is a flaw in my personality but it is what is.
(P.S. I do appreciate those who have been following me though!! And I thank you so much for sticking with me!)

With that, I will see you all in due time and hopefully I can come back to this very soon with much more gusto than before!

I think the last time I put some time and effort into making a Mandala was a couple of years ago. I found my tutorial and wanted to give it a go.

Therefore I thought headphones would be an appropriate subject.

I did this drawing by request. You know who you are.

P.s. Drawing a Ferris wheel is hard!

#113 One Eye

I haven’t been feeling very creative today. Kind of in a weird funk. So when it came time to do my project for the day I really didn’t have a clue on what to make. I would have preferred to get myself lost in a book for the rest of the evening. Then I got a little nudge from my friend to attempt one of the drawing challenges she had suggested to me (remember the drawing with the less dominant hand, drawing with one continuous line?). Then another friend suggested I draw a watermelon. I didn’t have a subject of my own so why not? For the challenge I drew with one eye closed (my right). With the change in perspective I had trouble making the shape of the watermelon. I felt like the world was a bit tilted along with the drawing. I colored it with one eye also. That was easier. I did get  caught up in the one eyeness so when I was done I forgot to open it. It has been a long day.

Fun watermelon fact: it is said to originate from South Africa. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watermelon

#112 jumping spider

I encountered one of these in our window today. I’ll admit I was a bit nervous because of its jumping abilities. It turned out okay though. I set it free.

P.S. This is an incredibly gross exaggeration of its size. It was really pretty tiny. Half the size of a dime. But as far as jumping spiders go, it was the biggest one of that species that I’ve seen.

I have been so stressed and busy that I haven’t had anything left for creativity.

I drew this with one continuous line.

#109 Whatever will be will be

I wanted to go back to something more comforting. Abstract drawing as I have stated before is that. I haven’t done any abstract in marker in a while so I wanted to go back to it. I didn’t have any sort of direction in mind, which is typical but this time I just let my hand flow where it was going to flow. I tried to keep my conscious mind and decisions out of it.
